Meeting at Paris CDG at 10:00 am. Check-in and boarding of the plane to Mexico City. Take-off at 1:30pm, arrival at 6:30pm. Welcome and transfer to your hotel to drop off your luggage. Tour of the city, including the Plaza de la Constitución, known as the "Zocalo". Continuing on to the Cathedral (outside), stop at the Plaza de los 3 Culturas, built on the former main square of the city of Tlatelolco. Discover the ancient floating garden city of Tenochtitlan, from which the Aztec emperors obtained their supplies of fresh fruit and vegetables. Ride in flat-bottomed boats. Traditional picnic on the boats. Visit to the National Museum of Anthropology. Time to rest at the hotel and in the late afternoon, a stroll around Garibaldi Square, famous for its mariachis. Mexican-style dinner. Overnight at Hotel Royal Reforma 4* or similar.
Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, symbol of the Christianization of the Indians. Road to Teotihuacan. Stop at an obsidian carving workshop. Buffet lunch with traditional music. Introduction to making tortillas. Discover Teotihuacan, one of the country's most important religious centers. We head for Puebla, which has retained its Spanish influence and is famous for its churches adorned with hand-painted tiles. Stroll through the historic center. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Posada des Pedro 3* or similar.
Breakfast at the hotel. Road to Oaxaca, nicknamed "the city of jade" for the stone used in its buildings. Lunch with the locals and tasting of cazuelas. Visit to Monte Alban, the ancient Zapotec capital. Stroll the aisles of the handicrafts market, one of the most colorful and lively in Mexico. Indians gather here to sell their products: carpets, wooden objects and many handicrafts. Dinner of tlayyuda large tortilla with red bean purée. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Mision Oaxaca 3* or similar.
Breakfast at the hotel. Road to Chiapas. Lunch. Motorboat trip through the Sumidero canyon, lined with lush vegetation. Continuation to San Cristobal de las Casas. Arrival late afternoon. Dinner in a typical brazier restaurant followed by a folk show. Overnight at Hotel Mansion del Valle 4* or similar.
Breakfast at the hotel. Discover the picturesque village of San Juan de Chamula, home to a curious church where locals practice animist rites. Continue on to the village of Zinacantan, where men dressed in pink wear multicoloured ribbons. Stop at an indigenous weaving workshop. Preparation of tacos with an Indian family and lunch. Return to San Cristobal and discover the city's colorful market. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Mansion del Valle 4* or similar.
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning drive to Palenque, stopping en route for breakfast at a coffee plantation. Stop at the Agua Azul waterfalls, where huge pools of turquoise water are surrounded by jungle. Grilled fish lunch at the foot of the waterfalls. Drive to Palenque and visit the most famous of Mayan cities, its monuments hidden by lush vegetation. Dinner and overnight at Hotel La Adlea 4* or similar.
Breakfast at the hotel. Road to Uxmal, stopping at Champoton on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. Lunch of fresh fish in a seaside hut. Visit the site of Uxmal, a great pre-Columbian Maya city whose name means "thrice-built" and is characterized by its Puuc architecture. Dinner and overnight at Uxmal Resort Maya 3* or similar.
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for Izamal, a picturesque Yucatan village, with a panoramic tour of the "San Antonio de Padua" convent. The city is also one of the most important pilgrimage sites in southern Mexico. Lunch. Continue to Chichen Itza, visit the site and discover a cenote where you can take a dip. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Puerta Chichen 3* or similar.
Breakfast at the hotel. Road to Cancun. Transfer to the airport and flight to France. Take-off at 12:45pm, stopover in Mexico City until 4:45pm, then flight to Paris CDG. Night on board.
